Wednesday 13: The dixie dead

08/04/13  ||  Habakuk

So I certainly didn’t expect a Death’n‘Roll album with this shitty moniker. Honestly, don’t use numbers in your band name. I don’t even know why, but don’t.

Maybe it will detract from the fact that you might actually not be so terrible music-wise. On paper. Also, it will also give potential reviewers something to write about when your music wears our after just a couple mid-tempo songs. The thing is, if in this style of metal you don’t have an instrumental section that shits groove and a singer that has more than one (decent, admittedly) style of singing, you might run into problems. Even though that one song idea you have in your heads isn’t terrible… until you repeat it, what, 13 times? I mean, you could try to at least change the pace once in a while. Nope, not these guys. Wednesday 13 just steadily pound on.

Well maybe they at least have a great theme…? Yep, horror movies! Woopdie-fucken-doo. Look guys, I’m having an absolutely boring-ass day. I’m really easy prey. Give me a signal. Anything, and I’ll happily tap my foot a little. Just no more 4/4 rambling in a pace that resembles an old geezer riding his grandpa scooter on a shopping tour. No interesting stuff, no foot-tapping. You guys should hire someone who can write another song, or at least a monkey riding a unicycle for the next album. Seriously, the most interesting thing here is a bit of clapping, or fucken cowbell instead of a cymbal once in a while.

Oh well, at least I’m a little angry now. Better than bored?
